Brochure Design

Designed: November 2022

The theme of this brochure was based on my favorite pair of sneakers. These sneakers influenced a lot of my design decisions, creating an interest in street art and skateboarding. I represented this interest by posing the sneakers with different props like skateboards or spray paint cans. This helped create a consistent theme across the entirety of the brochure.

Although the sneakers may hold a controversial meaning I felt it created an interesting challenge to design around this. I decided to spray paint pieces of paper until it created a shape that I liked and used this to censor the profanity. I was also challenged to take advantage of the white space of the brochure and not use shapes to fill this empty space. In order to work with the white space, I sized the photographs so they lead to the next page and also fill the white space.

Design Reflection

This project helped increase my skills and comfort in using Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. It also gave me more experience posing props to continue the theme for the brochure. The brochure challenged me to understand the flow of a reader’s vision and to effectively design around it. This encouraged me to work with the placement of images to ensure their successful use.
